Grey Pappayas is famous in New York. Nathan's hotdogs (Coney Island).

We have a local place that is well known throughout the area for having good hot dogs. It's been around for many years.

What part of Florida were you in? I'm in Fort Lauderdale and I can think of 5 hot dog places off the top of my head! Actually, I've seen a resurgence of hot dog restaurants in the past few years, and there's always a line out the door. You just have to look!

Well, there are some regional ones, just not national...like the Sabretts hotdog company has some restaurants in some malls, etc. They are not free-standing restaurants, but usually kiosks or mall locations.

Some other hotdog places: Hebrew National, Der Wiener Schnitzel (which are a chain of free-standing restaurants)

If you want a great hot dog, I would suggest Pinks in L.A or how about trying a Chicago Dog!

In my opinion there is alot of great hotdog places, you just have to look and be open to different types of dogs.

the only well known hot dog places in america are nathans...if you want to go you can to to the very first nathans in coney island brooklyn...if you cant go there, sometimes the mall food courts have a nathans or you can always go to new york city to get a "famous dirty water" hot dog on the street corners

Well in the western half of the country there is "Wienerschnitzel" (you said "well known" not "good"). After 47 years in business they have well over 300 locations.

Um, I disagree. How about "Pink's" in L.A. or "Weiner's Circle" or "Hot Doug's" in Chicago or "Nathan's" in NY.
