That's they're store format.
It allows very quick service which is what they're known for..
Places like Quizno's and Subway have long lines because everybody can customize and have things toasted. it just clogs the line up. Jimmy John's saw those problems and stuck with simple deli sandwiches and it worked. maybe not for you but you don't have to go there.
it's actually genius because so many chains get so caught up with offering too many products. Just pick a core product and do it well. McDonald's used to just be burgers, fries and milkshakes but then they got their menu too big trying to please everyone.

They don't have any way to do that. They only sell cold subs. The only heat in a Jimmy Johns is the oven they use to bake the bread.

Thats their way of making sandwiches.
If you want heated or toasted sandwiches, go elsewhere or do it yourself.
I suppose you whine about KFC not selling burgers too.
