no, delivery charges are a way pizza franchisees to steal from drivers hard work and combat other chains pricing adding a hidden cost that one would assume goes to the driver because it is a "delivery" well it does not. I worked at a dominos when the delivery charge was instituted. My tips disappeared and i was working for less than minuimum wage paying for my own car repairs and upkeep and gas. Consider this: Pizza Place A advertises $10 for a x-large no delivery fee, Pizza Place B advertises 7 dollar x-larges but charges a hidden $3 "delivery fee"...who do you think gets more business. and i know people wil say "oh i will just stop going there for pizza" but that doesent happen. win for owner because more business, totally screws the drivers, who are expendable and replaceable. this is the root of the problems we face in america now..lying cheating false advertising anda culture of "i want it now". and i want it to be easy.

I can tell you the driver does NOT collect the whole delivery charge, which is not OK. It's a charge on top of the cost of your food for them to offer the delivery service, supposedly for the supplies needed...what? a "warming" bag that doesn't warm???

You pay the delivery guy the price of the pizza plus the delivery charge of $3.99.

Yes, they aren't going to deliver for free. So you have to pay that PLUS a tip.

No, the delivery charge is basically the transportation fee for the pizza which does not include the tip. You would have to pay $3.99 in addition to the tip of the driver.

They add the price to your bill. None of that money goes to the driver. It kind of makes sense to charge one price for however many pizzas a person might order, rather than adding the cost to each individual item. Consider the example given above, 4 pizzas to the same address from place "A" would cost $40. The same order from place "B" would only cost $31, because the delivery fee is only being charged once, instead of four times.

Still, many people do think that the fee goes to the driver, so they don't need to tip.

That's the fee for delivery. It's added on top of the food cost. It doesn't have anything going to do with tip.

Delivery charge is mandatory, tip is not mandatory.

Don't tip anyone anymore, it's unnecessary.
