There are a lot of varibles to factor in.
How far you live from the store
Other deliveries
traffic
weather
driver's driving habits
a mistake on another customers order
stupid people working, new employees
Also, it takes about 10 minutes to make a normal crust pizza, deep dish takes about 15, from start to finish in the box.
A mistake topping will set it back even further. Or a dropped pizza
Time of day. Lunch rush is between 11 and 2pm. Dinner rush is 4:30- about 8pm. Expect longer delivery times during these times.
Amount of people working. If there are only 2 insiders and 1 driver, then expect 30-45 minutes if there is more than one delivery.
Food service sucks if you work it. They have alot of bills to pay and hardly ever come out even. People get sent home early, store gets busy and the customer suffers. Food costs are up and so is minimum wage, so the bosses are worried about making labor and food costs.
If you're quoted 30 minutes and it takes 33, don't complain, you'd get put on the **** list for the next time you want delivery. If they quote you 30 and it takes an hour, call the store and ask what they can do for you. Sometimes free breadsticks on your next order or a free 2-liter or something. A small with 1 topping. If you want the whole order free, they'll probably do it, but again you'll be on the **** list. And you will have wasted their workers time and food. Not cool.
I always pick up my order. I don't like soggy old pizza. I know how long it takes to cook, usually 5-7 minutes, and when it takes 30 minutes to your door, that means the pizza's been sitting under dry heat for 20 or more minutes before it gets to me.
