I've been going through the several fast food restaurants in my head and I got to thinking, why aren't there any Veggie-friendly fast food restaurants? I would be so happy if someone took this as an opportunity and opened one up.

Thanks in advance.

That's a good question. The only thought I can come up with is a veggie friendly place would have to be in a well populated area. And, be given a lot of advertisement. I don't think it would have a big enough draw in a smaller locale.

For ex., a number of years ago this town I was living in opened a Salad Bar restaurant. I loved it. Just about any salad you could think of they had. It was serve yourself. It was clean and neat. It was nicely decorated. And, it didn't last very long. After it first opened and everybody in town went through once, that was it. The novelty wore off pretty fast.

I've often thought you could add to someplace like that. Home made soups for winter. Veggie subs. I don't know. I'm like you. I wish someone could make a go of a place like this.

Actually, many fast-food places DO have vegetarian selections!! Anything without meat is vegetarian, isn't it?

McD and the King are exceptions to the rule!

Taco Bell has many things without meat (bean burrito, cheese quesadilla, etc). When I go there, I encounter many customers that also order their tacos, burritos, and other "regular items" with beans instead of meat. One even ordered the Mexican Pizza with beans instead of meat!

Panera Bread offers vegetarian sandwiches and soup, as well as salad (pick two for only $6.49)

Chipotle, Qdoba, and Baja Fresh all offer vegetarian versions of everything that has meat!

At breakfast time (in the fast-food places that have breakfast), you can get egg and cheese with no meat!!!!

there are many small often ethnic resturants that are fast service but rarely chains, Andrew offered some good options, many chineese or japanese food places have good vegie options.

i remember when about every fast food chain had salad bars but it seemed contamineted veggies scared the industry due to hep positive employees or ecoli and other illness.

Well my answer is probably because lots of people LOVE meat. And fast food restaurants probably have tried selling vegetarian food but it probably wasn't getting many sales so they took it off.

because most people that go to fast food places arent vegetarians. however u can buy foods that vegetarians would eat, salads and stuff like that, u just have to pay like 30 dollars for it. lol.

That's a good question! It's cheap-ish to make vegetarian meals, lots of people buy salads and tofu and stuff...hmm..., And it would support meat selling places to buy a salad at those meat selling places. Hmm?

Because it takes time to prepare healthy meals.

The market dictates, what won't won't sell won't last.
