I was a fan of three sandwiches no loner on the McDonald's menu: QLT (Quarter pounder, Lettuce, and Tomato) was a quarter pounder with lettuce and tomato Here is my favorite. Anyone remember the McDLT? It was a Quarter Pounder served in a two-sided foam container with the hot meat in one side and the cool components (lettuce, tomato, and cheese) on the other. It was pulled because of environmental concerns of the containers. They say the Big & Tasty is the same thing. I say no, the McDLT was better. Anyone remember the Arch Deluxe? It was alright but a bit expensive fora McDonbald's burger.

How typical of McDonald's to commemorate their beginnings as 1955.
The McDonald brothers opened their first restaurant in Southern California in 1948, Ray Kroc became part of the, already successful, company when he bought the 9th franchise in 1955. He bought the brothers out in the early 60s and the McDonald's Corporation been trying to erase the first 8 years of their history ever since.

Dunno why this was asked in US answers when it is a UK promotion. Sorry, guys... :/
For those of you not in the know, it is about the size of a Big & Tasty, comprising of an unseasoned beef patty (more rustic than the normal burgers, apparently they are prone to falling apart on the grill if they are not removed quickly!) with two slices of bacon, iceberg lettuce, tomato, pre-fried onions, seasoned ketchup and a lovely smoky sauce that tastes like hot dogs, in a sesame topped bun.
I think it is way better than the Big Tasty. The 'hot-dog' sauce makes it, I think. :)
