If you consider yourself to be outgoing then maybe waitressing at Denny's could be fun for you. Pizza Hut doesn't require as much of that as Denny's would so if you're a bit shy, Pizza Hut might be better. Also think of which place you like eating at more. There is always discounts on the food for employees at places like this. If you like the food served at these restaurants then it could go one of two ways: 1) you eat the food more now and that you're working there and being around it so much makes you get sick of it and it's not longer a place you like to eat at, or 2) working there and being able to eat their food at a discounted price is a dream come true for you!

The pay rate is likely going to be the same at both of these places so that shouldn't be too large of a factor.

In my opinion, I think you should apply to both places but it will be more likely for Pizza Hut to hire a young one like yourself than Denny's.

Depends on the position. I'm assuming you would want to be a waiter/waitress and not a cook. If that is the case, it will be easier to take orders at Pizza Hut (not such a diverse menu & might just be a single pizza to an entire table), and the tip range is likely about the same for both, although Pizza Hut per table average is probably a bit higher. You might have a couple people come into Denny's buying pizza and a cheap breakfast for a $8-9 table and have the same 2 people go into Pizza hut and buy a couple sodas and a pizza for ~$15.

Go to work at Dennys and be a server. You will make killer tips every day. Just don't work the grave yard shift. That sucks. Drunks have no money left for tips.

What do they pay? If you wait tables, then do you keep tips or have to share? If you work Pizza Hut do you wait tables? Do you keep tips or share? I honestly have not seen anyone waiting tables at Pizza Hut.

If you have an In-N-Out Burger, apply there as they pay $10.50 per hour and have excellent benefits. Not sure of the age requirement but they work around school schedules.

they would probably be the same, but one might let you have the left overs?

also each pizza hut and dennys is different depending n where you are, so a pizza hut, or dennys in one state could be different than one at the other.

The best place to work is the place that pays you the most money and is the most flexible given that you are a student. Go for the highest pay

fast paced work environment, love working with the customersServer (Current Employee), Klamath Falls, OR – June 13, 2013

Pros: half off of meals 1/2 hour before, during, and 1/2 hour after each shift, and the discount on days off.Cons: no healthcare offeredI start by taking the newest open tables in my section, seating people, getting drink orders, and serving my customers. It's usually non stop service. At the end of my shift, I do my side work, which includes cleaning my section out on the floor, stocking and making back ups, wiping everything down, and rolling silverware.

I have learned that if you – more... leave your life problems at the door when you come into work and keep an upbeat, positive attitude, it rubs of on the customers, and on fellow employees.

The hardest part of the job for me is dealing with the drama between the employees and management.

The most enjoyable part of the job is meeting new people everyday, and striving a little bit harder to make their day just a little more pleasant. – less
